Summer is cruising by, but I can’t say the same for summer classes. I just keep trying to do my and just look forward to the almost month break I will get before I start fall classes. I get Friday off for a holiday weekend, and then I have 3 weeks left of classes. I can say I’m getting ahead, but it’s not fun.
I have been trying to have fun other than school things. I went to Michigan this last weekend. Cassie and I headed to Richmond, Michigan to see our friend Kayla and her dog, my buddy, Chip! It was about a 3 hour drive. We got there and ate and hung out and then went to a movie. On Saturday we set up for her sister’s high school graduation party. We were busy most of the day, but it was a fun time. Then on Sunday we just relaxed a bit and then headed back around 2;30. It was a fun trip. It’s always fun to see Kayla and chip. Cassie and I have missed them this summer. The new school year should be fun because Kayla and our other friend Kate are moving into the building next to us, the two of them have a 4 bed room to themselves. We’ve already decided we’ll be living in and out of each other’s apartments.
I’m looking forward to going home this week on Thursday. I have a lot to do over break though. I have a video I have to shoot and edit for Monday, which won’t be assigned until tomorrow. Then I have a Geography test, and Spanish homework. I plan to hang out with family and the guys in between all that.
Well I think that’s about it for now. I would really like to give some news on the Cubs, but they are struggling big time. Hopefully they can turn it all around after the All-Star Break this year. That’s it for now!
So it’s been a long couple of weeks, but I’ve been hanging in there. I always talk about how these last few months of school are real crazy, believe me, they just get worse. My partner and I finished filming our creative endeavor for video class last weekend. It felt good to have that step done. Then I got a call from him Sunday night around 11ish and he was like, “bad news man…” I didn’t know what to expect. He had started to digitize and go over the footage when we found that the sound was cutting in and out on our tapes. I couldn’t believe it! We messed around with it for a couple hours that night, and got nothing going. So I came back home sometime after 1 that morning and slept. Then I got up and took the tapes in and tried to re-digitize them. Well we shot with two cameras, which means two different tapes. We used one camera to film our main character (the producer tape) and then the second to film the other people ( so it was called our crew tape). Well the crew tape was the worst, it kept losing time code as I was digitizing which throws everything off. So I digitized it the best I could, it took over a half an hour to digitize 10 minutes worth of footage. The second tape only lost time code 3 times, so it wasn’t as bad. So now the question was, did we have enough “good” footage to piece together a film. Well, Nathan and I sat in the lab most of the night and tried to put things together. We were able to save a lot, and we had to trash other things. We have to refilm a few minor scenes, but all in all we made it work, thanks to Nathan’s awesome editing skills (he calls himself the Editing Master). Sowe’re going to re-film a few Closeup Shots (CU) today and then edit those in. We had a lot of trouble with the lights in a few scenes, so we’re trying to fix those the best we can in editing. I would like to have the bulk of this done before I leave for Cleveland this weekend, which we should. This is really my second big problem with Video Production, but I guess you just have to stay focused and dot he best you can.
As I said a little bit ago, I’m headed to Cleveland this weekend. Dad and I have tickets to a Cleveland Indians game. I wanted to go so I could watch former Cubs, and my favorites, Kerry Wood and Mark DeRosa play. I don’t remember who their even playing, but it should be a good game. Hopefully the Indians are ahead at the end and Kerry Wood gets to come out and close the game. It’s also Kerry Wood bobble head day, so I’ll get a Kerry Wood bobble head, too bad he’ll be in an Indians Jersey. Well, I think I’ve ranted enough for now.
Another week down in the semester, which seems to be going fast and slow all at the same time. I still have a lot to do, which is never fun. I’m so close to being done with Audio class, the final meeting is next Wednesday. Bad news is that I have my audio final Monday and I still don’t feel ready for it. There is so much information and sometimes I have a lot of trouble processing all that technical information. I’m sure I’ll figure it somehow, it will just take some more time.
I have one last project left in my Video Production class. It’s a creative endeavor, so we can do anything we want. My partner and I are getting together on Monday to start scripting and storyboarding ideas. This project should be fun, I’m looking forward to it. Today I took a little break and took everyone’s music video from the class and put them all on a DVD so I have a copy. It’s interesting to go and look how others did there videos.
I’m looking forward to going home this weekend. Sure, I’m going to be studying for Audio, but I get to see family and stuff myself full of food. I’m headed home Friday after Spanish class. I’m just planning on hanging out at home on Friday. Then on Saturday I’m headed to the lake to see family on my dad’s side, should be some good times. I’m looking forward to showing off some of my projects that I have completed, to my family. On Sunday, I’m headed for church and then having Easter with my mom’s side of the family. I just need to remember to get studying done!
Cubs are currently 2-1. That’s it for now!
So today is the big day, Opening Day! I have been so excited for today, and it ended in a Cubs victory. The Cubs won their first game of the season on the road against the Houston Astros. They won the game 4-2. Of course I was a little disappointedduring the off season with the release of Kerry Wood and Mark DeRosa, those two being my favorites. It’s all good though, I can still cheer those two on in Cleveland but my true heart belongs to the Cubs. Carlos Zambrano pitched his 5thopening day and got his first opening day win tonight. It’s a great way to start off a new season, and I definitely look for more to come this season! I have picked my favorites to cheer on this season, which includes: Sean Marshall, Ted Lilly, Kevin Gregg, and Mike Fontenot. For now, that’s it, but more stayed tune for more Cubs post during the rest of the season!
Spring Break has come and gone just as quickly as it does every year. Now I have my eyes set on the next 8 weeks of the semester. 8 weeks sure doesn’t sound like much, but I still have a lot left to do. Besides going to class and doing a BUNCH of projects, I need to start scheduling my classes for the fall semester. I have already signed up for one class for summer session 1, which is Spanish 102. I thought about making picking up possibly another class and then I need to plan accordingly for summer session 2. I also need to get a job, which I’m hoping some spots on campus will open up for those students who leave.
I’m really just looking forward to being done with school and I hope around this time next year I am looking at graduation. I have a long, hard road in front of me but I’m trying to keep on task. I have events that I get to look forward to, that help me make it through sections of my life. When I feel really stressed, I look at events that are coming soon to help me pull through. One of those things is coming home, which I love to do. Other big events are the Cleveland Indians game on April 25th, hopefully going to the Coldplay concert in June, weddings this summers, and a Cubs game at Wrigley on August 14th. There are others, but those are the big ones of course. By the way, finding out that Coldplay is going to be at Verizon Wireless over break was awesome. I so hope I can get tickets, I just want to be there and see my band!
Well, I need to end this post. I plan to go to bed early each night, but it never happens. So since the alarm will be buzzing at 7 am I better catch as many z’s as I can before then.
It’s been almost a month since my last entry. I feel like I have so much to say. Christmas break was just what I needed after a good semester. I had so much fun being out of Muncie for a few weeks with nothing to worry about. I spent some a amazing time with my family and some great times with all my friends. The three weeks definitely went by why to quickly, but I’m not complaining. I go myself all moved back into the apartment today. I had a lot of stuff to bring back with me, it was almost like moving in again. I changed things around in my room, I didn’t want to get bored with the way it looked. I’m getting use to calling this home a little bit. I mean, since I have resigned my lease for next year and I’ll be staying here all summer.
Let me get a few things in that I didn’t cover during break. My Cubbies have made some big changes, obviously my favorite player, Kerry Wood, was traded off. Well he was picked up by the Cleveland Indians. They traded off my second favorite player Mr. Versatile, Mark DeRosa, on New Year’s Eve. Funny thing is, he went to the Indians as well. He was Mr. Versatile for the Cubs, he’s a second baseman at heart, but player everywhere they Cubs needed him when others were injured. They also got rid of Jason Marquis, are fifth starting picture, it’s ok though. I’m hoping Sean Marshall, will get to take that spot. Colts lost, don’t want to say anymore. The BSU football team went 12-0 in the regular season, but lost our championship game and then lost in the GMAC Bowl. Also we lost our head coach, he did not coach the GMAC Bowl game.
Also, Coldplay finally announce the 25 videos that made their short list. I unfortunately did not make it. Here’s the link in case you do want to check them out: http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=264. I tried and I did have fun with it!
Well, if you didn’t know, I passed all my classes last semester. I was scared about one, but I passed. Now I have this semester to look forward to and it is busy. I found out my Spanish class meets 4 out of 5 day week. Friday is my easiest day, one class, Spanish…lol. So I hope to begin a job search here very soon. Good chance, I might just ask to work weekends to allow me to concentrate on school during the week, but we’ll see what happens. Well I have two more days of freedom. I plan to relax and work on some script writing.
So things seems to be running as smoothly as they can school wise. Can’t complain a whole lot, it’s school. Anyways, so the fall swing of shows has began so I try to make a little time for them in my schedule. But October has finally come and you know what that means…MLB POSTSEASON! The Cubs began there postseason last night against the LA Dodgers. Unfortunately, they lost game one 7 to 2. The Cub’s took the lead early when Mark DeRosa hit a two run homer to put the score at 2-0. Things would soon fall apart, when Cub’s pitcher Ryan Demster walked several batters and then a grandslam was hit. From there, the game just slipped way. But, the Cubs have tonight to try and catch up.
So after the game I was pretty upset after the tough loss. I kind of wanted to get out of the apartment for awhile and I was texting with my new friend Katie. I decided on a walk, even though it was like 40 some degrees last night. I drove over to campus, parked the car and then met up with Katie. I’m pretty sure we walked the WHOLE campus, but it was fun and it relieved a lot of stress for me. I just kind of forgot about the weather, I think I just became to numb from the cold. We had some interesting conversations, but I feel we both thought it kind of took some stress out of lives i.e. school and baseball…lol!
So I’m headed back to Kokomo this weekend to see mom and then we’re going to FT. Wayne to see my bro and Andrea. Jordan is getting placed into his field work at the church Andrea works at, so that should be great for them. I’m excited to see them, it’s been a few months. Also I get to see Roise and Tobie, I love thosedogs. Anyway, it should be fun.
I leave you with the following; a video tribute from Comcast sportsnet on the Cub’s regular season. It has actually highlights and footage and not just pictures. One of the best videos I’ve seen for the Cubs in awhile. It’s to the new Cub’s song “All the Way,” by Cub’s fan and Pearl Jam lead singer, Eddie Vedder…enjoy!
