“I saw the ending when they turned the page…”

Another week is just around the corner, but I guess we’re down to the last four weeks now.  I don’t really want to talk about this week though, because I want to talk a little bit about last week.

So last week was a long, difficult week.  I had my Law Analysis Paper due (10 pages or more) and then I had my fifteen minute presentation in Spanish over Spain.  I had most of the research done prior to the paper writing, so it was a matter of getting 10 pages out.  I actually finished it and it sounded alright.  I hope I did well on it, I need the good grade after the last test.  That was due on Thursday.  I have been having some bad dreams about getting horrible grades on it, so hopefully I really did do well.  He is going to have them done before we leave for break or email our grade.

The Spanish presentation was suppose to be on Wednesday, but she canceled class because she was sick.  So I had to worry about it for a few more days and then we presented Friday.  I think that is the most Spanish I have spoken in my whole two years in the program.  Not sure I said very many things right, but my partner and I got it done.  I mean giving a presentation in English is hard, but one in Spanish is even harder.  We should get our grade sometime soon I hope.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, just needs to come a little quicker!  I added a video to this blog.  It’s a video by one of my favorite bands, The Killers.  The song is called “Dustland Fairytale” and Brandon Flowers, the lead singer, wrote it for his parents.  They recorded this version at Abbey Road with a full orchestra behind them, it’s awesome!

“So I waited for you…”

All I keep thinking today is that the year 2009 is not so bad.  I was so excited over Spring Break when I found out that Coldplay was coming back to North America for another run on their tour.  Well, I decided to look at the dates, figuring nothing would ever be that close to me in Muncie.  I was proven wrong!  As I read through the dates, I saw a Tennessee show and thought that wasn’t too far but then I saw a Cleveland show.  But even after all of that I saw Verizon Wireless in Noblesville, Indiana.  Coldplay actually booked a gig in Indiana!  I was ecstatic and looked for people to go with me.  I found 4 others and we decided to get the cheaper tickets, lawn seats, we just wanted to be there.  Well, I got the tickets on pre-sale this morning, which made us all very happy.  They were a little pricer than I originally thought coming in with a total price of $55.85 a piece, but it’s well worth it.  I have always dreamed of seeing Coldplay, but I always thought it was a far dream; I guess I was wrong.  So if you think I talk about Coldplay a lot now, your in for it.  I’m not sure who the opening act is, it has not been announced at this time.  It should be an amazing summer.  Even though I’ll be taking classes and working, I’ll at least have baseball games and Coldplay.

“Well it goes like this the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift…”

Spring Break has come and gone just as quickly as it does every year.  Now I have my eyes set on the next 8 weeks of the semester.   8 weeks sure doesn’t sound like much, but I still have a lot left to do.  Besides going to class and doing a BUNCH of projects, I need to start scheduling my classes for the fall semester.  I have already signed up for one class for summer session 1, which is Spanish 102.  I thought about making picking up possibly another class and then I need to plan accordingly for summer session 2.  I also need to get a job, which I’m hoping some spots on campus will open up for those students who leave.

I’m really just looking forward to being done with school and I hope around this time next year I am looking at graduation.  I have a long, hard road in front of me but I’m trying to keep on task.  I have events that I get to look forward to, that help me make it through sections of my life.  When I feel really stressed, I look at events that are coming soon to help me pull through.  One of those things is coming home, which I love to do.  Other big events are the Cleveland Indians game on April 25th, hopefully going to the Coldplay concert in June, weddings this summers, and a Cubs game at Wrigley on August 14th.  There are others, but those are the big ones of course.  By the way, finding out that Coldplay is going to be at Verizon Wireless over break was awesome.  I so hope I can get tickets, I just want to be there and see my band!

Well, I need to end this post.  I plan to go to bed early each night, but it never happens.  So since the alarm will be buzzing at 7 am I better catch as many z’s as I can before then.

The Journey of Coldplay

Last night was a big night for Coldplay.  They were feature on 60 minutes, which you can view here.  If your interested in going through the 12 year history of the band and learning about them, check it out.  It’s about a 13 minute interview and you learn a lot, plus you can see why I like them so much!  They speak about the two groups that accused Coldplay of steeling their music.  They also discuss lead singer, Chris Martin’s, crazy actions on stage and his relationship with celebrity Gweneth Paltrow.

Then Coldplay was up for 7 Grammy Nominations  and winning 3 of them!

Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals – Viva La Vida (Win)
Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals – Violet Hills

The Grammy’s also released this picture, which forms the faces of band with the various songs that the band loves and is influenced by.

One more item to post, this is the video of them performing last night at the 51st Grammy Awards.  They play 2 songs, “Lost?” the acoustic version along with Jay Z’s rap from Coldplay’s Prospek’s March.  Then they perform Viva La Vida.

That’s it for now.  I really suggest you check out the 60 minutes interview at the top, it’s pretty amazing.  Enjoy!

“How about you and me babe…how about it?”

This is just a quick little music video post.  This video is from my other favorite band, The Killers.  This song comes from their third album that includes their B-Side tracks.  The song is called “Romeo and Juliet” originally written and performed by Dire Straits in 1981.  I knew The Killers did a cut of the song, but never got a chance to hear it until I got The Killers B-Side album Sawdust.  They originally covered this song for one of the b-side cuts for their single “For Reasons Unknown,” which is fromt their second Album Sam’s Town.  I know what I just said probably means nothing to the people that read this.  The song is just a really beautiful song and is a well done cover, and if you have the chance check it out.  This session was also recorded at Abbey Road.  The band talks briefly at the beginning about why they did the cover.  I hope you enjoy!

And the winner is…

So I’m currently in the works of kicking the last week of classes in the butt!  I got through the first day and it was pretty successful.  I talked to my TCOM 204 professor about my grade.  I got a 94% on my presentation last week and I was so happy.  It bumped my grade to an A- which means I no longer have to take the final!  Which also means I only have to get up at 6:30 once this week.  Now I’m just finishing up some short assignments for other classes and getting a few extra credit point here and there to help grades even more.  So far…speaking before finals, I would say this semester went pretty well, but we’ll talk again after finals next week.

So Coldplay announced the winners of the Lost? competition.  They called a winner and a runner up.  I was neither, but atleast I tried and had fun in the process.  I learned a lot and I’m just proud I tried.  Here is a link to the page to watch the winner and the runner up and some descriptions on why they picked what they did.  I like the runner up video because it kinda reflect on the album cover of Viva La Vida.

Well that’s about it for now.  I’ll leave you with a chance to watch my Lost? video again.  It isn’t going away though, you can find it on youtube.  One side not, I was able to buy a copy of Coldplay’s Viva La Vida album on Vinyl.  I was so excited and it was cheap!  I’m hoping some day I can get the other 3 the same way in hopes to listen to the albums in a new way!

It’s funny how you just break down waitin’ on some sign…

So I haven’t written since before break, so I thought I better update.  Break was awesome, never long enough though.  I came home late Tuesday night after BSU’s football team went 12-0  in the regular season, it’s a great year for BSU students and alum.  I pretty much hung out with family and friends all break.  Sad part is I didn’t get a lot of sleep.  I guess I didn’t want to miss out on stuff, so I would stay out late and sleep as long as I could in the mornings.

My car died on me on Sunday.  I had loaded it all up to come home and got in the car and started it and noticed my battery light was on.  I figured the battery was fine because it started.  So I went to back it out of the driveway and the wheels were not turning.  I got mad of course.  Grandpa came down and looked at it and saw my serpentine belt was broke.  So I caught a ride back to BSU with Ben.  My mom had the car towed and worked on.  They had to fix the belt and my water pump was linking.  The upsetting part  about that is they fact that I just had a new water pump put in like a year or 2 ago.  Well, I suppose we just roll with the punches.  Good news is the car is getting fixed and my mom and grandma are going to meet Cassie and I at Gas City to pick it up either Friday or Saturday.

I’ve picked up a cold and I’m not liking it.  It makes breathing very difficult.  I’m trying to get better as fast as I can though.  Well, I’ve been keep busy with school.  I’m in my last two weeks of the semester and then I have a week of finals.  My tcom partner and I have a presentation to present at my 8 a.m. on Thursday, I hate presenting stuff but it must be done.  So I’m trying to rid myself of some of this cold before tomorrow’s presentation.  I’m hanging in there and I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel.

My last night I would like to say is that Coldplay is announcing the winner of the “Lost? Video Competition” on Friday.  I’m looking forward to seeing who wins.  They have had a ton come arrive in the last few days.  A panel selected certain videos, then Coldplay will make a decision from there.  Not sure which videos were selected though.  If I don’t win, I can at least come out of this knowing that I tried and I got some experience.
