So it has been a little while since I last wrote. Various things have come up and I just haven’t got around to it, but I’m back now. I did survive summer session 2. Spanish was definitely a fight, but I made it. Then I got four weeks off and I spent most of my time in Kokomo. You would have thought that being on vacation meant I should be able to write, but I didn’t…sorry. So now I will try and get everyone up to date on what is going on.
I would say the first major story is the fact that I am currently dating a pretty amazing girl. Her name is Kayla and I met her here at Ball State. She is a Landscape Architecture student, so a pretty busy girl. She’s from Michigan. We’ve been seeing each other for almost a month now. She’s a fun person to be around and just talk with. I know we have both been looking for something pretty special in our lives and I think we have found that. I’m excited to have her help me get through the year and me help her too. I know I’m looking forward to showing her Kokomo during Labor day Weekend. We do have tickets to go on a tour of Wrigley field later in September.
So my car has been on the downs again. I was losing power in it the last couple of days. So Kayla went to Advance Auto and it died right as I pulled in to advance auto parts. I ended up getting a new battery and then had them check the alternator. They said the alternator seemed fine. So I think the problem is that I got a new AC modulator this summer and the people that worked on it rewired a newer modulator, and I think it may have sucked all the battery out of my car. So I need to try and get that fixed like ASAP.
I have began the the Fall semester of Ball State this week. It’s kind of weird, because I’m a senior now! I’m almost done, but I have so much to do. It’s a pretty busy semester. I have a ton of reading and writing to do this semester. And I’m taking to project based classes and I hear a lot of my time will be consumed in there as well. Good thing is, I have the same professor for both those classes. I’m taking Spanish 202 (No clue what’s going on), Creative Writing, DVD Design, Media Law, and Web Development. Let’s see how all this goes.
I wish I had some good news on the Cubs, but I don’t.

Summer is cruising by, but I can’t say the same for summer classes. I just keep trying to do my and just look forward to the almost month break I will get before I start fall classes. I get Friday off for a holiday weekend, and then I have 3 weeks left of classes. I can say I’m getting ahead, but it’s not fun.
I have been trying to have fun other than school things. I went to Michigan this last weekend. Cassie and I headed to Richmond, Michigan to see our friend Kayla and her dog, my buddy, Chip! It was about a 3 hour drive. We got there and ate and hung out and then went to a movie. On Saturday we set up for her sister’s high school graduation party. We were busy most of the day, but it was a fun time. Then on Sunday we just relaxed a bit and then headed back around 2;30. It was a fun trip. It’s always fun to see Kayla and chip. Cassie and I have missed them this summer. The new school year should be fun because Kayla and our other friend Kate are moving into the building next to us, the two of them have a 4 bed room to themselves. We’ve already decided we’ll be living in and out of each other’s apartments.
I’m looking forward to going home this week on Thursday. I have a lot to do over break though. I have a video I have to shoot and edit for Monday, which won’t be assigned until tomorrow. Then I have a Geography test, and Spanish homework. I plan to hang out with family and the guys in between all that.
Well I think that’s about it for now. I would really like to give some news on the Cubs, but they are struggling big time. Hopefully they can turn it all around after the All-Star Break this year. That’s it for now!
Another week down in the semester, which seems to be going fast and slow all at the same time. I still have a lot to do, which is never fun. I’m so close to being done with Audio class, the final meeting is next Wednesday. Bad news is that I have my audio final Monday and I still don’t feel ready for it. There is so much information and sometimes I have a lot of trouble processing all that technical information. I’m sure I’ll figure it somehow, it will just take some more time.
I have one last project left in my Video Production class. It’s a creative endeavor, so we can do anything we want. My partner and I are getting together on Monday to start scripting and storyboarding ideas. This project should be fun, I’m looking forward to it. Today I took a little break and took everyone’s music video from the class and put them all on a DVD so I have a copy. It’s interesting to go and look how others did there videos.
I’m looking forward to going home this weekend. Sure, I’m going to be studying for Audio, but I get to see family and stuff myself full of food. I’m headed home Friday after Spanish class. I’m just planning on hanging out at home on Friday. Then on Saturday I’m headed to the lake to see family on my dad’s side, should be some good times. I’m looking forward to showing off some of my projects that I have completed, to my family. On Sunday, I’m headed for church and then having Easter with my mom’s side of the family. I just need to remember to get studying done!
Cubs are currently 2-1. That’s it for now!
I should ecplain the title first, I have a big event tonight, well for me anyway. It’s ER’s series final tonight. I have been watching that show for 15 years and it’s coming to an end tonight. I’m excited and sad, it’s had a great run! It starts at 8 with an hour of looking back on the show and then the final 2 hour episode. Tonight, we say goodbye…
So I’ve been pretty busy trying to get things done. This was actually suppose to be my last week in Audio class, and then take the final next week. This class only meets 10 out of the 15 weeks, but he added another week int there to get a few more things in. I will be happy when it is all over, I have been super busy in there. Last week I worked on my Pro Tools 101 projects all week during the time we would have had class. There were two exercises to do, so my audio partner and I knocked those out. Then, this week, my partner and I recorded and mixed our second and final radio commercial. It’s more of a funny commercial, pretty much something that could never air, we just had fun with it. Next week we review for the final, which I’m glad we take early because it is going to be difficult. The test should take about 40 minutes and then we have to wrap a mic cord, which is harder than you think. If you don’t wrap it a certain way, you pretty much fail. Our prof told us he saw a person get fired once for wrapping a cord the wrong way.
A week or so ago I pretty much got all my classes mapped out for my last year of college. I’m hoping to take six classes this summer between the two summer sessions, with a total of 19 credits, and then two 15 credit hour semesters this next fall and spring. That’s the plan, unless they drop one of my tcom classes this summer and then I’ll be taking a 18 credit hour semester next year. I’m just hoping everything works out, I’m ready to get everything finished.
So I have lots to do this weekend! I’m shooting and editing a music video and then hopefully working on my final project for video class. I also need to get some studying in there, get prepared for that audio final.

Spring Break has come and gone just as quickly as it does every year. Now I have my eyes set on the next 8 weeks of the semester. 8 weeks sure doesn’t sound like much, but I still have a lot left to do. Besides going to class and doing a BUNCH of projects, I need to start scheduling my classes for the fall semester. I have already signed up for one class for summer session 1, which is Spanish 102. I thought about making picking up possibly another class and then I need to plan accordingly for summer session 2. I also need to get a job, which I’m hoping some spots on campus will open up for those students who leave.
I’m really just looking forward to being done with school and I hope around this time next year I am looking at graduation. I have a long, hard road in front of me but I’m trying to keep on task. I have events that I get to look forward to, that help me make it through sections of my life. When I feel really stressed, I look at events that are coming soon to help me pull through. One of those things is coming home, which I love to do. Other big events are the Cleveland Indians game on April 25th, hopefully going to the Coldplay concert in June, weddings this summers, and a Cubs game at Wrigley on August 14th. There are others, but those are the big ones of course. By the way, finding out that Coldplay is going to be at Verizon Wireless over break was awesome. I so hope I can get tickets, I just want to be there and see my band!
Well, I need to end this post. I plan to go to bed early each night, but it never happens. So since the alarm will be buzzing at 7 am I better catch as many z’s as I can before then.
Well, I can’t sleep so I thought I would write a blog. My plan was to go to bed early tonight because I got up at 6 this morning to get ready and get to campus to turn in a project that was due at 8 this morning. I had to be on campus in order to turn it in on the TCOM sulley server, but I was unable to connect. So I didn’t get it turned it by 8 and got up for no reason. Just to let you know, I did try to submit it Friday and was unable to then, so I had emailed my professor and he didn’t get back to me until today. I didn’t lose any points though, just sleep. Then I at dinner around 5ish and I was watching tv and I fell asleep for about an hour. That was way too late for a nap, hint that’s why I’m still awake now.
So today I took my car in to get fixed. Over the weekend a friend and I were running around in Muncie when my car started making noise, it sounded like the muffler. Sure enough it was, it wasn’t cheap to fix either, but it is now fixed. Speaking of the weekend, Cassie and I had friends up for the weekend. We had a singles weekend, for all of single people. Our friends Jon and Brandi came up Friday night and we drove to Noblesville to go see My Bloody Valentine 3D. We really like horror movies and it was our first 3D film. The 3D was cool, the movie wasn’t that great. We came back and just hung out at the apartment after that. Then on Saturday we all went for lunch and then Cassie and Brandi went to go get manicures and pedicures, while Jon and I went driving around Muncie. We went to a campus used bookstore, where Jon got some really old books. Then we went to the Mall and Walmart. Angelica came to Muncie that evening and we all went to Scotty’s for some great foor and then back to the apartment for more hanging out and such. On Sunday everybody headed out and it was back to getting ready for this week.
I’m really looking forward to a couple events. Cassie, myself, and possibly Jon are going to the midnight showing of Watchmen on March 6. It’s base off a graphic novel written in the 80’s and I loved the story. I’ve been getting some of friends to read it. I think it’s like a 3 hour movie, but it has a lot of story to tell. I don’t have class on Friday until 1, which is good. The next event I am looking forward to is coming home on that Friday. That will be the start of my Spring Break. I can barely see the light of break, but I am so ready for it. I’m excited to come home and spend some time with my family and friends. I’m also looking forward to the annual credit union meeting, which I have promised to give my mom a hand. Of course, I’m excited about the donuts too!
One last note, I have been working very strongly on trying to change a few of my health habits, but I realize you can only take a couple steps at a time. Since I am taking my fitness class this semester, I have been getting a little exercise in. Eating habits are hard, so right now I’m really focusing on eating my Cheerios for breakfast (I use to never eat breakfast). I take a couple different vitamins that I think do really help. I also have been working strongly on cutting back my cokes. I have been ordering water at restaurants and then drinking about 1 coke a day. Some days it’s easy, others are very difficult. I’m taking baby steps, but that’s really the best way to do this.
That was a lot more than I had intended to write, sorry. I’ll talk to you soon!

So as everyone must know now, Ball State cancelled classes yesterday. It was kind of nice, but in a way it wasn’t. I’ll start from the beginning. I got up at 7 a.m. as usual. I jumped in the shower, ate breakfast, and checked my email. I had nothing about classes being cancelled. So I went and brushed my teeth and I prepared to go outside. I checked my email one last time to just make sure, and as of 8 a.m. I had nothing. So Cassie and I trekked through the snow and made our way to the bus stop. We finally made it there and waited patiently for the bus. Once on campus, I was in the HP building waiting outside my classroom for my 9 a.m. class. Around 8:40 I got a call from Cassie saying everyone started getting a text from BSU that classes were cancelled. I still hadn’t gotten one but I believed it. Well a girl from my class said she got one and not too soon after I got mine. The 8 a.m. class that was in the classroom my 9 a.m. was in came out around 8:45 or so. The professor from that class came out and she was talking about how she couldn’t believe we had classes. We told her about the text and she couldn’t believe it. I mean, she had to driven in for her 8 a.m. how dumb is that? So I got back on the EXACT SAME bus I came in on, as did Cassie.
For the rest of the day I did a little reading, which later turned into procrastinating. It’s bad to have so much time off, because you honestly don’t get a whole lot done. But I’ve been working hard today and preparing myself for next week since I’m pretty much losing studying this weekend. But I should be ready and I will review on Sunday. Cassie and I did go back out later that evening and cleaned her car off and got it out. I’ll have to try and get my car out today. Yesterday, Cassie and I kept seeing ads on TV for KFC and we decided we had to have some chicken. So she drove us to KFC, good thing she likes driving in snow because I hate it.
So the BSU Daily News reported Muncie got 12.4 inches of snow. The last time BSU cancelled classes was in 2007 during that one snow storm. The time before that was like in the 1970’s I believe. Anyway, people were mad the message didn’t get out until 8:45. They said the grounds crew could not keep up with the snow fall between 4 and 8 a.m. Normally they try to make a decision before between 7 and 8. I heard someone say the following on the MITZ when going to campus, “Jo Ann Gora is crazy, this is not education redefined.” She is the president of BSU and that is our slogan. It was kind of funny. I survive the snow and now we’re trying to recooperate. Campus is still covered and the side walks are still terrible, so I’m trying to stay on my feet and not on my butt!
